HUNZA VALLEY: The Hunza Valley (وادی ہنزہ) is a mountainous valley in the northern part of the Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan. The valley lies along the Hunza River, and borders Ishkoman to the northwest, Shigar to the southeast, Afghanistan’s Wakhan Corridor to the north, and the Xinjiang region of China to the northeast. The Hunza Valley floor is at an elevation of 2,438 meters. Geographically, the Hunza Valley consists of three regions: Upper Hunza (Gojal), Central Hunza, and Lower Hunza (Shinaki).
SHIGAR VALLEY: The Shigar Valley (وادی شگر) is a valley in Gilgit Baltistan in northern Pakistan that is watered by the Shigar River, and centred on the town of Shigar. The town of Shigar is the largest settlement in the valley. Shigar was an administrative sub-division of Skardu District before it was made a district in its own right. This valley is a popular destination for hiking, trekking and mountaineering, despite the tough conditions there. Also, the valley is an attraction for the tourists as it is a gateway to Karakoram Hills, one of the world’s highest peaks is K2.
